Dr. Frances Wilkerson has practiced veterinary medicine since 1992. After graduating from the University Of Wisconsin School Of Veterinary Medicine, she attended Cornell University in New York for her postgraduate clinical internship. She moved to the Chicago area in 1994, and worked with Drs. Susan Brown and Richard Nye at Midwest Bird and Exotic Animal Hospital. Dr Wilkerson has been a part time associate with Ness Exotic Wellness Center since 2006.

Dr. Wilkerson has diverse veterinary expertise in non-domestic species. She has volunteered in the veterinary departments of Sea World of Florida, The San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, Willowbrook Wildlife Center and the Lincoln Park Zoo. She was also employed by Arboretum View Animal Hospital Emergency Department as a relief veterinarian with a special interest in Exotic Animal Emergency Medicine.  She is also an American Red Cross Authorized instructor for Pet CPR and First Aid.

The theatre is one of her primary interests outside the veterinary field. You may find her name in a Chicago theater program, as she is also an actress! She is an ensemble member of Eclipse Theatre Company and has worked at various theatres including Steppenwolf Theatre Company, The Goodman Theatre and Victory Gardens Greenhouse. She is also a member of The Screen Actors Guild and The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
