Kayla Golan, DVM, CVA, CVSMT
Veterinarian
Dr. Golan was born and raised in Deerfield, IL. She began working with animals at a young age with her mother who was a veterinary nurse and a wildlife rehabilitator. She earned her undergraduate education at the University of Arizona and received two B.S. degrees in Wildlife Sciences and Veterinary Sciences. Dr. Golan graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011 and has been practicing integrative veterinary medicine ever since.
Dr. Golan has always had a holistic outlook on medicine (and life in general), and a special interest in exotic animal medicine, so naturally, Ness Exotic Wellness Center was a perfect fit. Dr. Golan joined the team in 2011 as a veterinary associate and gained invaluable clinical skills, knowledge and experience.
During that time, she expanded on her knowledge of holistic medicine through post-graduate certification programs in Acupuncture and Chiropractic medicine, as well as attending several exotic animal conferences including surgical wet labs and exotic medicine master classes. After a year and a half away, Dr. Golan has returned part-time to the Ness Exotic team, and is excited to be back!
Dr. Golan not only loves treating dogs and cats holistically, but enjoys helping her exotic patients benefit from holistic therapies. She has a passion for nutrition and believes that it is one of the most underutilized medical tools available. She is currently pursuing her certification in Food Therapy through the Chi Institute, and Is excited to bring the knowledge she is learning to dogs and cats as well as the exotic pets she sees in practice.
Dr. Golan currently lives in the North suburbs and spends most of her free time with her furry family of two mixed-breed dogs (Shy and Alula), 2 cats (Bailey and Forbin) and her non-furred partner in life, Kiarnan. Whenever possible, Dr. Golan enjoys seeing live music, working out, gardening & cooking with organic vegetables and traveling.
